Should the company prioritise agreeable employees over top performers?

Right now, many businesses tend to shift their companies’ sentiment, using a stakeholder theory that will be focussing more on all stakeholders, not just shareholders. The theory said that a firm should create value for both external stakeholders — suppliers, shareholders, society, customers — and internal stakeholders — employees, managers, owners. From the research, in many cases, the most important stakeholder group of organizations are employees who might come ahead of customers, suppliers, community groups, and especially far ahead of shareholders.

Considering employees as stakeholders can benefit companies in the form of improved morale and performance. Employees can bring their companies in terms of financial and economic well-being; employees also can take a decision of management that affects directly all of the stakeholders. It is crucial the company cultivates a positive work environment for all dedicated employees.

Based on my consideration, the company should elect agreeable employees over top performers since the organization prefers employees that are dedicated and committed to their work. These employees are often ready to work at lower salaries, help others at work, create a positive environment in the workspace, and etc. Agreeable employees might have good relationship management by producing a positive impact on others, also they tend to have more social awareness as well. They can deal with any conflict within the company, have empathy to their colleagues, listen and understand others’ perspectives, and most importantly can inspire leadership within the organization.
